Together they vow to destroy King Manford. Constance introduces Sophia to the real history of her family and what happened to Cinderella two hundred years ago. It’s there that she meets Constance, the last known descendent of Cinderella and her stepsisters. At the ball, Sophia makes the dangerous decision to escape, and she flees to Cinderella’s mausoleum. Sophia would much rather marry Erin, her best friend than be put on show for the lecherous men of the kingdom. Once she is married, she becomes the property of her husband. According to the laws of the kingdom, a woman has no rights. She’s watched the women of Lille forced into loveless and often abusive marriages. Sophia has nothing but disdain for the tradition. It’s time for Sophia to attend her first ball, and she’s been dreading this day her entire life. If a girl is not chosen after three balls, she’s considered a forfeiture and is never heard from again. The men of the kingdom will select their wives based on the girls’ good looks and displays of finery. It’s the bicentennial celebration of Cinderella’s Annual Ball and King Manford has summoned all the sixteen-year-old girls in Lille to take part in the special occasion. The book empowers and inspires young women to become the heroes of their own stories. It’s a fun, feminist take on the popular fairytale. Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron is a YA fantasy that takes place 200 years after the death of Cinderella.

Greg: Out main character! In the beginning of the book, no one trusts Greg except Aramis and Catherine. Gibbs definitely improved the characters in this book. The characters were awesome! Remember how I said in Traitor's Chase, I said that there was hardly any character development? Well, you're in for a ride here. I really loved this plot! It was action-packed, had high-stakes, and best of all, it included messages of how important friendship, family, and hard work is. They are also ready to save Paris in the process. So the plot is basically them racing for the second half of the stone against Milady, Conde, and Dinicoeur. However, Greg, the Musketeers, and Catherine are determined to win. Now, they are about to take over Paris and retrieve the second half of the stone. They have taken over the kingdom, tricked the Musketeers, tricked Dinicoeur, and have the first half of the Devil's Stone. This was so good! This was definitely better than Traitor's Chase! When this failed, he asked Rashek to do everything within his power, including murder, to stop him from releasing the power at the well. He renounced Alendi and left, hoping this would dissuade the man from going to the Well. However, Kwaan noted that the legends in the copperminds and in text differed from the ones he had memorized, and how one such case was in the description of Alendi. He and a group of Terris packmen journeyed along with Alendi towards the Well. When Kwaan met Alendi, he was surprised at how well the man fit the legend. The Well was within Terris legend, and it was said that a man, known as the Hero of Ages, would use the power of the Well to help the world. In the end, only someone wielding and balancing the diametrically opposing forces of Preservation and Ruin could save the world. Releasing the power at the Well ended up freeing Ruin from imprisonment, essentially dooming the planet. The original text was more vague on what to do with the power. However, this was a corruption of the text, orchestrated by Ruin. It is said in the Terris legends that the Hero of Ages will release the power at the Well of Ascension and use it to save mankind. It is also the place where Rashek radically altered the world using this power, and became the Lord Ruler. This was power that could supposedly save mankind. The Well of Ascension is the mythical place where enormous energies would gather every thousand years. For the second book in the series, see Mistborn: The Well of Ascension. |
